About Myself

Passionate about Art and Art History I invite you to learn more about me by going to my LinkedIn, Instagram, and Gratia Arts on Facebook. Please email me if you have any questions or want to discuss planning a workshop.

Artist Statement

I allow my intuitions, dreams and unconscious to emerge in my creations. They come from a place I call, the "sky of my heart." An expression used in my Yoga practice. These abstracted images of landscapes and what I call, "sky-scapes" reflect my sensuality and spiritual search. These intense internal energies - of the place, of myself, of the medium and the colors - keep demanding I search for expression. Recently, more realistic botanical drawings are challenging me to share my inner peace and joy, despite the upheavals around us.

Bio and Resume

I work in pastels, inks, oils, and acrylics, on heavy sanded paper, oil on board, canvas, and paper. I also have begun to create Drawings of Plants. I have taken Art History Tours of Ireland, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. I have been asked to teach art classes and workshops based on my exhibits and experiences as part of the Art Adjunct Faculty for Miami University for over 10 years. I teach ART 181; a required Studio/Art History Course for Miami University Students to graduate.

Collections

Pastels:

Working in heavy layers of soft Schmincke pastels on thick paper embedded with sand; called pastel deluxe, landscapes emerge.

Oils and Acrylics:

Outdoors or indoors on gessoed paper and boards, I enjoy catching the fleeting moments and transitory light.

Watercolor and Colored Faber Castell Pencils:

Indoors with freshly cut flowers, I create botanical drawings on archival paper that reveal my own unique view while following more traditional drawing techniques.
